Help - I'm Lost! Yesterday I acquired a few chests (vickers, .303" Browning, Bren etc.) Amongst them is a typical Vickers/Bren type chest with rope handles etc. - but with a difference. It is marked as above on front and both ends. It is only 43"/1090cm longs which is considerably shorter than my other Vickers chests. And Mkvi? ?? Is that a case of somebody just buggering up the stencils or what? The attached label lists the gun serial number as S7024 - also a mystery to me. Any ideas out there?

Peter,
The Technical Handbook from 1940 does talk about a Mk. V chest but still is the same length.
Checking through some LoC documents that Tom sent me a few years ago, there is a reference to a Mk. 6 chest (C1/BD6247) but it gives no indication as to what it is for. LoC from 1957. So it did exist! Just need to find out what it's for.
Thinking about it: Could it just be for barrels? Possibly the GO?

Hi Richard Inspirational thinking on your part!! I pulled out my GO and it pops in like a dream. The interior bits are 100% correct. Why it didn't occur to me I don't know. Thanks for solving it. Cheers

Hi Peter want a copy of the DD(E) 1928 for the Mk VI chest? The second sheet covers the internal parts.
Sorry I've not kept in touch, been snowed under for the last 18 months!

Hi Tom
I would appreciate copies of the 1928 sheets as I have no documentation at all on these items. In fact I am really short on GO stuff. I wonder if Mark Finneran has access to any manuals, parts, accessories etc.?
Richard - I get the message! ;D

Hi Peter looking at the jpgs they ae 17MB a pop so I better stick the lot on a disc and post them. Unfortunately they turn to mush when I shrink them to go down the wire, Theres also 6 manuals for the VGO scanned in and drawings.of the tools, AA tripod, brass catcher (with pattern for the canvas bits) and what have you, Theres some nice GA drawings of the various guns/Mks.

Hi Peter remind me of where to send it although it will have to wait until after Beltring, I'm having a nightmare with my computer, it won't read or burn discs and I can't transfer the pics I want to put up as the camera will only talk to the other machine and the only way to get data from that machine (its ancient) is to use a re wrritable CD.
