Kev, You are definately a great resource. If you look at the picture of the ZB39 breech block you posted, there appears to be the same type of HK mark next to the pin. That is definately what I have. I bet the guy I got them from didn't even know that. He was formerly a class 7 manufacturer (he could build machine guns), that let his license expire. I bought all of his spare stuff from him. I believe he had built the two Bren kits I bought from him up to active guns again. Upon his letting his license go he had to re-cut them into parts kits. Thanks Very Much, Aaron Green

Kev, Don't worry it will. It's just been the last few years that there has been an ATF approved semi-auto. I'm trying to decide if I want to go to the expense to build one. Most I've talked to say they run about $3000. I can build alot of L1A1's for that!! LOL... I'm branching out at the moment, I'm growing tired of FALs. I mean I've only got 10 working variants!! ;D
Thanks Again For The Help!!!

BTW a 7.62x39 round will be a really loose fit in a .303 or 7.92 barrel chamber. Rather like 'the fit of a sock to a chickens lip'

7.62X39 was Like throwing a toothpick down a mine shaft!! I broke down and bought a box of 7.92, it fit like a dream. I don't know how to post pics here, but I posted it in my FalFiles thread. So, the barrel protrusions are a mystery??

If you need a couple of 7.92 extractors I can pick you out a couple of good ones from some I was given. Besa ones of course but they are supposed to work fine. No charge of course.

There a mystery to me ! Disregarding dealer/owner modifications, Brens and ZB LMG's from the factory whether made in UK,Canada,Australia,India,or Czechoslovakia used a single cutout at the bottom for extraction on rimless rounds and an extra cutout at the top for feed (giving the protrusions) for rimmed rounds. I'm NOT an expert, but I have never seen a factory 7.92 Bren barrel marked as 7.91 nor a rimmed mouthed factory produced barrel specifically chambered to fire rimless rounds. This is not to say this set up wont fire or function ;D We live and learn so I would be interested if you find out any thing to the contrary or someone with more insight can tell you anything different. Keep us posted I

Will the ZB bolt work in a bren?

Sorry Aaron I dont have any practical knowledge of parts interchangeability between ZB/Bren parts in live Brens Things are a bit different for us over in the UK we could tell you if all the bits look like they function but we can't tell you whether it would actually go BANG ! ;D I take it that would be useing a Bren breech block carrier ?

Yes, I do have the Bren Carrier, and it does fit the ZB bolt. I've been doing some more research and I've been told that the .303 bolt works with 7.92 by simply changing the extractor. If this is true I may just have to build a Semi-Auto Bren in 7.92!! The availabilty of .303 surplus has been a concern of building a Bren to me. 7.92 is much more available. That tempts me to spend the money and do it!!

First off, let me introduce myself. I'm Aaron Green and I'm from Missouri USA. I am an avid member of the FalFiles, and have just recently become interested in the Bren Gun. I recently purchased two kits and a bunch of spares. I am looking for information on one of the barrels I picked up. This barrel has the following markings: F456 6T 6311 55948 another 6311 s then crossed flags, then a 43 Large 7.91 I know this is a Canadian Barrel, 6311 is the serial number and 43 is the date. What I don't know for sure is the calibre. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. I also have a bolt that appears to be 7.62x51mm. It is marked HK. I didn't know HK made Bren parts. Any info on this would also be appreciated. Pics can be seen at www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=163573I hope that works. Thanks In Advance for helping a lowly newbie! Aaron Its a shame you dont have the mk2 receiver to go with that Barrel, it would have been one of the first mk2's made with a 6T number.
