Paul,I think it would cost much more to ship it to NZ than its worth. Its a bit ironic that most tripods for sale at the moment in the UK are ex NZ or OZ.

Hi Kev
It is interesting that NZ tripods are turning up in the UK. We haven't had any here for many years, and none have come up for tender in the past 25 years that I know of. They must be coming from a country or company that obtained them from NZ along time ago. Most of the tripods we have here in collectors hands are Mk 1's. The last lot of Brens (.303) that came up for tender here was in 1988, along with some spare barrels and magazines (I got the mags - just over 1800 of 'em, and Peter Laidler and I went through them and found 6 Mk 1's, 4 of which are now in the UK). We still have some L4's in storage that may come up for tender in a few years.

Hi Rod
The tripods are amongst the last lot of remaining Bren and Vickers stuff that the Aussies gifted us a few years ago.
We allready have some of your L4's ;D mine is and I think Toms maybe aswell ?

Yup, My L4A4 is ex NZ, as is the 1959 L2A3 Sterling and L2A1. The L1A1, Mk Im UPGRADED and Vickers are ex Oz.
Anything left down there?
;-{D)

Kev, is there a mk1 intermediate Tripod, i.e. a mk2 non AA tripod but with an adjustable front leg?

Yes , No location pins for the AA legs underneath the leg adjustment winders and no pin for the bayonet lug .Have seen them also with the bayonet lug not machined. The gun AA mounting plate is not present either . Also have a BSA ,NZ marked one. Still looking for the MK2 !

Re 'Anything left down there?"
Not as much as there used to be. Our PC Gov't have said that there will be no more tenders for guns to be purchased locally - export only (then we get a permit and import it back!) We had a recent Chief of Defence who decreed that all souvenirs hanging in messes were to be destroyed. Fortunately the 'jungle drums' were faster than the official message and many items were transferred to safer places! Lets look at the bright side. The more guns that go to the UK and get deactivated then the more our live guns are worth! ;D

Maybe loads of people have got them but because you cannot find one kev everyone thinks they are now to be sold on Ebay as "rare items". LOL I have only seen mk1 tripods for sale myself, I have been looking out, honest! Someone in my reenacting group is buying a bren with tripod so I will check which one it is. Might be able to do a deal. regards Matt Gibbs
