Hello there,
If you contact me by e-mail, I will send you a couple of.jpgs of plans for the gun. In addition to this, if you go to the downloads page of my Vickers site, you will find a .zip folder full of pictures of my K.
Also, on the K pages there are photos of the K mounted on jeeps in the Living History unit I belong to (1st AB Recce).
Hope this helps,
Rich

PLM not suitable, mounted somehow to inside (strangely!) of front plate, not sure how as forward/neutral/reverse selector directly below centre of same plate? any ideas/photos/drawings please anybody? Email: iocmorgan@hotmail.com Thanks.

iocbloke.
I would be interested in seeing any photo or drawing you may have of the IOC Dingo with 'K'/s mounted.
I also have a Dingo, that I intend completing as a representation of one whose photo appears in "Record Of A Reconnaissance Regiment", and which is also sketched (badly) in "A Territorial Army Chaplain in Peace And War". Both of these books relate to the 43rd Reconnaissance Regiment, however research and discussion with other Recce collectors seems to indicate that the Dingo photographed may have belonged to the 15th Reconnaissance Regiment.
The twin 'K' guns appear to be mounted externally on the top of the front armour shelf, just forward of the Bren gun firing position. The base of the mount gives the impression of being similar to that used by 1AB Recce on their jeeps, I have therefore had a pintle made using the same base casting that we use on our jeeps. This is ready for fitting once I have finished the task of rewiring the lights, fitting new tyres, and respraying it.
I did have a pair of top notch metal repro 'K's, but sold one to assist purchase of a deact. I now need another deact 'K' so that the two guns do not look odd when mounted side by side. If I can get a second deact 'K', I will fabricate something suitable as a way of twinning them and mount them in the pintle.
Beside the Reconnaissance Corps, and IOC, the 11th Hussars also had 'K's on some of their Dingos. The 11th Hussars war diary is on line and is an interesting read. (Search through Google) I like the idea of the Dingo they had with a .50 cal mounted.

Have not yet sourced photos of IOCR Daimlers with K guns, but they are well documented in regimental histories/personal experiences - and by that i do mean people who were there not 'experts' (ouch!). More than happy to exchange any info found, i did take the daimler to a Regimental event in Lincolns Inn in London the Saturday after the bombings - but my PC has eaten the photos and i'm still waiting for a guy to recreate my records so i can pass them on!!! Will still carry the bren in the scout car though (if you're really interested, there are different positions, straps, muzzle locating points etc in different Daimlers, also an (early) location for the AA tripd arm. Also photos in the Tank Museum, from memory, of a spring counterbalanced mount attached to the commander/observer seat a la Motley.

Frank,
There is a guy in the UK called Gary Ashcroft that makes very good copies of the mounts and the 1st Airborne Reconnaissance Squadron of the WW2 Living History Association use the ones he has made. Would you like me to try and get his contact details for you?
As to plans of the guns, I am struggling to find decent versions that would be suitable to build replicas from. I may try and reverse-engineer some drawings from my own gun but this would take a long time so people would have to be patient if there was demand.
Thanks,
Richard

I am trying to track down Gary's contact details as I don't have them personally. I do not have any plans for the guns myself but, as outlined above, I might be able to produce some but they would be suitable for replicas only for external appearances and will take me some time to put together.

Hi Richard do you reckon those D.D.(E.) GA drawings I got of the various Mks of the standard K are what folk need? Now I've broad band I can squirt them down the wire at a decent size.
Also I've found the boxes of Bren barrel handle parts if you still need them for that other "project" ;-{D)
