Just reading through 'Live Firing: Machine Guns of WW1' by Robert Bruce and he has a picture of one of these sites in the spare parts case of a Chauchat Light Machine Gun. On page 112, there is actually a picture of the site fitting to a M1918 chauchat.

I am sorry that it is too late for the auction but I hope it has satisfied your curiosity.
