Hi, Can anyone tell me anything about that box? It was made for AFV's but is shorter than any other models I know. It is original, not a "reworked" box and has no markings. Thanks,

For comparison. The tan colour is original and the hinged parts have not the same dimensions as the standard ones on the N° 10 box.

That is an interesting box. I suppose there are a couple of options: It could be for a 100-round ammunition belt (sometimes muted as used in the confined spaces of AFVs); or, could be for an entirely different gun, such as a Besa.
Would be worth working out how many rounds fit in it.

Hi,
A standard 250 rounds fabric belt does not fit in it. I would say 150 or 200 rounds. Finish, colour (same orange/red as inside some Vickers wooden chests) and design do me think of Vickers stuff. But you could be right. What about an early AFV box for a co-axial GPMG ? Cheers,
