Complete newcomer, I have been requested to make a bren gun, MkI or II, in 1/9th scale.
Browsing through this site I have come across some excellent references, and side views, but need the following info if possible.
Width of the main body of the gun, and the widest dimension of the butt.
If there are any scale drawings out there, these would be of immense value.
Regards.

Kevin, you know these better than I, do we have the DD(E) of the normal mag or just the one for the blank firing mag?
Sorry Gripweed, my memory is useless but I am sure that we copied the drawings for a magazine froom the Pattern Room. I know where the ones for the 7.92 Bren Mag is but the .303?

Blank firing 303 mag would be great for me too - if there were different parts as follower etc. In fact I am tuning our blank firing Bren and we have still certain amount of stoppages - our Bren had been converted for 7.62x54Cv ammo, which is slightly different in dimensions, so using of this ammo in 303 magazine needs some changes in mag. lips, follower etc. Drawing certainly would help me - thats why I am asking. Thank you! Attachments:

Tom,I'm on my 3rd day sorting all your scanned DDE's (and everythings else) out but haven't catologued them yet.I don't remember any .303 magazine drawings apart from the photocopied blank firing and Czech CZ 30 round magazine drawings on paper. Will see if I come across anything today. Gripweed if you are using 7.62x54R blanks wouldn't you be better off copying the feed lips from a ZB39 mag and using the floorplate from it ?

Yup can't see any of just a bog standard Mag, found the GA for the 100 rder.
Now where the hell is that roll of all the unscanned A£ photocopies? I could have hidden that anywhere "safe".
More when I have had a root about.

Yes, ZB39 mag would be interesting as well - I think that most of our problems come from different "curving" of magazine. 303 mag is curved "too much" for 7.62 rounds and 8mm Mannlicher mag for ZB39 is curved "too little" - it causes too much friction for 7.62 in both causes I am affraid. Optimum for us would be something between but, of course, we are limited to 303 mags use only. So I would try to solve this using modified follower, spring and lips. I have seen ZB39 with 303 adapted mags for 7.62 which worked pretty well, so I think its fixable, but needs fine tuning.
