Ok, here is one for you guys.... These have been on Ebay on and off and listed as Vickers clinometers.... Here is an Australian museum web site that states that these 13 - 18 pounder clinometers were used on a Vickers. If so... How was it mounted? Brass; Brass and steel Clinometer. Used for sighting a fixed line of fire for a 13 Pounder, 18 Pounder field gun or a Vickers Machine Gun. The top of the clinometer sight contains a spirit level with brass winders at each end that can depress or elevate the sight from twenty degrees depression to twenty degrees elevation. There are two spring loaded brass claws to facilitate attachment to the chosen weapon system. cas.awm.gov.au/technology/REL31084.001

I don't know about 13pdr or 18pdr, but it definitely fits a 25pdr, as I have one on mine.I don't see how they are used for sighting a fixed line of sight as direct sighting was carried out using the telescopic sight. As for the Vickers, I very much doubt it.
