Hey ho I have a Mk1 bren mag ED maker marked with an N/'\Z mark for sale. £75 or sensible offers from forum members considered Also possibly will be selling a copy of the Bren Light Machine Gun book £25 but its very heavy to post! SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Also wanting to positively ID what I believe is a very early ED marked MK1 bren cocking handle, I got it from Mike [Priest] ages ago and I recall something about it being ZB shape? It has a slightly different profile to the early bren one on my gun. It has a lovely ED stamp with a number too. Thanks Matt

Hi Matt,
Re the cocking handle, the very early ones were ovoid in shape, the next ones were milled on the flat so you have an elongated diamond effect when seen in profile. Other than that they both had the ribs machined in to provide grip.
Regards Tim

Hi Matt. I am surprised that the Mk I mag has not been snapped up as it is a rare item and an essential item for anyone with a double dovetail Bren! Many years ago I bought 2,000 Bren mags from the NZ Army and when Peter Laidler came to visit in 2000 he rummaged through them to look for unusual makers, etc (he spent a day up to his elbows in grease!). He was absolutely beside himself when he discovered a Mk I, and rummaged with vigour, eventually finding six of them! Three of them went back home with him, and I sent another over to a collector later. I have two left for my Mk I DD 1938 Bren. ;D
