This is aimed at our Australian brethren, I'm looking for a couple of pairs of none holey Vietnam era socks.
There, I've said it, my military underware fetish is out in the open.
I need them to finish off a late 60s field uniform.
I will now go and seek therapy.
;-(D)

Well, as it happens since I used to go to lots of carboots and charity shops looking for militaria on the cheap asnd since herself once expressed a interest in the packaging art work I started picking up pre 1960s stocking packets since they tended to cost next to nowt. Evidentally post war women hoarded them and eventually someone would decide to get shut of them.
So, anyway, I er, have sort of ended up with a couple of storage crates of vintage nylons, some quite posh in presentation boxes with layers of tissue between them.
They sort of piled up, alright, its not as if I actually wear them or owt....
Anyway, Craig, if they had been a couple of years earlier I'd have had your arm off for them socks, I'm building up a early Korean war set of kit but by '53 we had stopped begging US kit (OK in a lot of cases stealing) pretty much.
Pre 1965 Commonwealth socks are for some reason hard to find, I've paid through my nose for 1950s grey wool UK ones yet the vests, underpants and long johns, if they are post 1945 they practically pay you to take them away... By th way I only buy mint unissued ones, no sniffing involved... I also "do" shirts, collars and hankies if Commonwealth issue.
I can give it up any time I want...
