I'm looking for an original Japanese Type 96 LMG magazine (6.5mm) in good condition.
I have Bren Mk1 magazines, or a Vickers 'K' gun magazine for possible trade, or will purchase.
Preferably located in UK.

d**ned hard item to find! There are a few (about 10-12) Type 96 LMG's here that were brought home from the Solomons but about half of them have no mags. Luckily mine is complete. ;D One came up at an auction last year (listed as a Bren mag!) and I chased it to $600 before giving up. I wanted a second one to go with my magazine loader.

Woodsy thanks for replying.
I know they fetch a lot of $ in the USA, but there have been quiet a few 96 and 99 magazines coming out of China in the past 2-3 years which should have had some impact on price. I should have bought one when I saw them, but I didn't expect to find a 96 for sale here so I didn't bother at the time.
Beside the magazine, my one is missing the covers for the ejection port and magazine opening, and the cover for the ejector. If I can't find replacements for these from the USA I'll have to make my own copy parts.

I will be happy to provide photos and dimensions if you decide to build the missing parts.

Woodsy, Thank you for the offer.
Photos and dimensions will be useful as a stop gap until I can find originals. I will send you my email address by PM.

Woodsy, Thank you for the offer. Photos and dimensions will be useful as a stop gap until I can find originals. I will send you my email address by PM. I've now found original covers which should arrive in about a week. I've also found a dummy magazine for display (resin copy), but I'd still like to locate an original magazine if I can.

I've just realised that the ejector port cover I received from the USA is a Type 99 cover, the Type 96 cover extends a bit further forward. If anyone has the correct one that would be useful.
I'm still looking for an original Type 96 magazine. I missed one recently due to problems with my home pc. I didn't see the ad until it had been sold. If anyone knows of one for sale please let me know.

Thank you.
Having the cover a bit too short is not the end of the world, but it's nice to get things right. I might have a go at making a repro.
