I would be interested in hearing from members if any of you have an Armalite AR10. There were a lot that came on the market via the UK in the '80's and were in two categories. The Sudanese models had the one piece forend and were generally well used externally but with very good bores. One got the impression that the Sudanese recruits were not trusted with ammunition! ;D The less numerous Portuguese models had two-piece forends (fibreglass and aluminium) and were in better condition externally but with well used bores. Both models were mostly converted to semi-auto only (in the UK?) and were popular here for Practical Rifle shooting as well as for venison recovery from helicopters. A lot of them were modified for various scope mounts, and when our law changed in 1992 regarding 'Military Style Semi-Autos' a lot more had the cosmetic changes made to put them in 'Sporting Configuration' (no free standing pistol grip, 7 shot magazine, no bayonet lug or flash hider) thus avoiding the need for the new license. Good original examples are now hard to find here, and I have just obtained a select-fire Sudanese model in good condition, serial number 000075, which pleases me greatly! ;D I understand that a lot got the chop in Australia some years ago when they had their big Buy Back. What is their survival rate in the rest of the World?

Hello Woodsy, I am located in Texas. I count myself very fortunate to have several AR-10s. Both Sudanese and Portuguese models. Original AR-10s are very rare in the U.S.
