I notice Bren's have two semi circular recesses inside the magwell. They do not have a standard magazine function. Do they fit a 100 round mag or other accessory?

Those recesses serve no function at all but are a result of the manufacturing process. A tee cutter is run into the front of the magazine well to create the locating groove for the lip on the front of the magazine. This cutter is moved sideways to fully create the groove and the cutter contacts either side of the well, leaving the semi-circular recesses. The 100 round drum mags attach via and external fitting which clamps around the front of the receiver, and the existing magazine catch locks the magazine in place.

Can someone explain the Installation of the Magazine catch and ejector to me. Seems the catch has very little movement.... should it come off the ejector post?

Yes the mag catch can be removed from the ejector.Once the locking pin that holds the assembly has been withdrawn remove the assembly from the body and holding the ejector pull back the mag catch against the pressure from the internal spring until the mag catch is free to lift off.
