A post of mine a couple of months ago showed a photo of my two Owen Guns. The lower gun in the photo was purchased at auction about 20 years ago, minus the complete bolt assembly. I was happy to buy it as Owens are scarce in any condition, and figured that I would possibly find a bolt in Aussie (without success!). My gun came from the NZ Army Museum and was one that was used by our SAS in the Malayan Emergency in the late 1950's. Yesterday I attended an auction in Wellington that offered two Owen bolts! The first had a spare magazine and a couple of other parts, while the second was just the bolt alone. I bid on the first one, reckoning that if I missed that I would have another chance at the second. The lots were sealed in greasy plastic and there was no chance to properly examine them. I was successful on the first lot and today I unwrapped and examined my prize. You guessed it! It was the original bolt for my gun with the matching serial number! ;D All I can say is, I am glad that retired Army Armourers took some of their work home with them!!

Nice one Rod ,glad to hear that they are re-united Had a similar experience a couple of years ago with a Bren bipod head that was sent to me from a friend in Canada that was serial numbered to the Bren I was putting it on.

That bolt was from the Army Museum!Quite a large amount of lots in that auction came from the Museum. So it was a combo of coincidence(Museum decides to sell that bolt and you just happen to have an Owen from them) and luck (you won the lot with the matching numbered bolt!)
