Can somebody please tell me what the correct nomenclature is for the wooden ammunition box that holds two of the .303" liners? The type I am referring to can just be seen in the image below. Cheers, Richard

I have just found, by going through a CD that Tom sent me recently, that they are H1, Mk. I or H1, Mk. IE. There are also dimensions and other useful information that I was going to ask next.
One further thing though, does anyone have any of these and if so, could they send me, or post, a decent photograph showing the construction and thicknesses of the wood etc.
Thanks,
Richard

That ones not on my list of scanned stuff, its
Regulations for Army Ordnance Services Part 7 Pamphlet No. 11 Small Arms Ammunition Feb 1945 128 Pages and was kindly donated by Bart over in Holland.
Its rather good stuff.

Yeah, it is good. I think it is sufficient information to make a few reproduction ones for display but working out the construction and thicknesses of wood etc. is the difficult bit.

Does that type of box appear in David Gordons Weapons of the WWII Tommy book (Page 200 has the H1 MkIE I think?) If so I could ask him for some dimensions off whoever owns it.
He's a great chap and has been very helpful in the past.

In all honesty, I haven't got a copy of those books yet - I know, bad Richard!
However, David is actually on the members list of this forum so if he is out there reading this - please help?
Thanks,
Rich

I have a few in the "shed" still filled with ammo and belts, so if you want the spec's let me know. Also have one marked for AFV only, if that is of any interest. Let me check the shipping on one to the UK, if you want.

That would be superb Warren. If you have any spare liners or belts (Empty!) as well then I would be more than happy to cover your costs and a little bit more.
Cheers,
Rich

Hi Warren I don't suppose you have any Besa liners in that Aladins cave or yours....?

Actually found it was a H.29 box, NOT H1. I have a BESA one borrowed from a friend to copy but if anyone is aware of any for sale, then I would like to get one.
Thanks,
Rich

If anyone DOES need the dimensions/thicknesses etc for an H1 box let me know.
I have a '41 dated H1 MkIE with labels for 1000 x .303 Mk VII in bandoliers sitting under this desk.....
All the best,
Paul
