I am looking for a tripod for a Director, No. 9, but I've come to the realization that I'm not sure what one looks like. Can anyone help with a picture and a description of the tripod? Thank you for the help!

It is called the Stand, Instrument, No. 28, Mk. I and a picture of it (from the 1951 manual) is: I had one a few years a go but not having the Director, I sold it. I am now looking at getting a Director and would like one again so if you find a couple then let me know. Hope this helps, Richard

Thank you for the image and the proper nomenclature. I have the instrument but no tripod.

Rich, any ideas what a 'Stand, Instrument, No. 17a, Mk II would be for? looks identical to the No28 except the threaded portion.

Not sure off the top of my head Chris, but I will have a browse through my manuals and see if it is anything Vickers related. TTFN, Rich.

Chris,
Fougn out today that the No. 17 is for the Director for the 25-pounder (according to Ian Durrant) and that it does actually fit the No. 9 so if you have a source on these please pm me as I am after one.
Thanks,
Rich

well, the director is nothing I have ever seen as being remotely like a Vickers one. I will have to keep an eye open for the No. 17 and would ask you to do the same!
Thanks,
Rich
