Dear All after another disapointing Beltring and another find of a not quite Besa cylinder cleaning brush I suddenly noticed a line on the DD(E) 2580 for the Mk I Besa Brush "Brush, Rod, cleaning cylinder, Bren .303-in MG., Mk I (DRG No DD(E) 2136) Ground down to Dia shown may be used for this item" So having a box of Bren brushes laying about and a shiny new bench grinder I thought what the hell, I'll make my own! And I did. After a bit of experimentation It works best if you snip the brush down to a inch diameter, clamp it in the jaws of a cordless drill with a strip of leather to protect the brass thread and then ensuring that the brush is spinning in the opposite direction to the wheel and that you have the wires of the brush spiralling down (otherwise it splays open as I discovered on the first one, oops!) you press the slowly spinning brush onto the wheel until you have ground it down to 0.80 of a inch diameter. A set of good old callipers helped here. They will do until I can finally source a Mk I or Mk II Brush! at least I can finish off a kit now! ATB Tom

Nah, it bounced off my jam jar bottom like glasses! I did set fire to some of the fluff off of the buffing wheel though, which stamped out easily enough...;-{D)
