:)Hi Guys, My first post and my first Vickers. After a life time of Luger and Thompson collecting I have finally obtained my first Vickers. It is a smooth jacket .303 Vickers Erith made in Feb 1919 serial number H6520. It is all complete with case and original tripod, hose and tank. It is a "live" gun. The jacket is painted a "sand" colour and so is the case. The case is marked "Nepal Contingent"."training gun". I would be interested in any information any one might be able to give me on this Vickers. Kind wishes. Murray, Great Barrier Island. New Zealand.

Hi Murray! Welcome to our happy band. If you collect Vickers with the same success and enthusiasm as your Lugers and Thompsons, god help us! ;D For those reading, Murray has a world class collection.

Hello Guys, and especially hello to you Rod, you pop up in the most unexpected places.
I decided to up grade (restore) the paint work on the new gun so I very carefully stripped the old paint of the gun with the intent to repaint it in the same color.
When I got the paint off and found a perfect blued water jacket underneath I did not have the heart to paint it. It looks so cool with it's original blued smooth water jacket with out a ding or a blemish. It is in mint condition. About 98% original blue,
The jacket has obviously been turned as the tool marks are very clear.
I had no trouble getting the old paint out of the turning groves which are not much deeper that a 78rpm record. I believe that this gun was one of the first smooth jacket Vickers.
As soon as I am finished I will post some photos.
Kind wishes Murray.
