The original colour of Canadian made magazine boxes was matt Olive Drab, the same as found on WW2 vehicles of North American manufacture, with white stencilling. The UK made boxes were similar but the paint was more of a khaki colour. I am sure the paint is readily available from various military vehicle restoration businesses. Have a look on Milweb for advertisers.

I think the correct colour for British boxes is known as service brown and should be available as stated via milweb Nigel

I'll start the ball rolling with a couple .
LSL (Lawton Successors Ltd) - UK PMD - UK EC&Co Ltd - UK
GSW (General Steel Wares) - CAN MC ?

Thanks Kev, as usual you are a font of knowledge One of my boxes is MC which has felt liners around the adge of the box and across the lid, the other is GSW and this has no felt, is this correct? as I would expect them to all be made from the same drawings. Both boxes have the webbing type handle - MK1(?)

Would MC be Monotype Corporation?
