Is there any mention of this serial number prefix in "The Last Enfield" book, my copy not to hand.
What are the first two numbers after US? They should be the year of manufacture i.e. UE86.
On my last visit to the UK in October I did see an SA80 for sale that was made up from parts and a made up number added. The rifle was de-activated. There was some long story with it that I was not told, I saw the gun at Chatham - perhaps it's the same gun?
Regards

Hi Alan,
My SA80 is an Ex Royal Ordnance display gun it is an inert gun and has never been a firearm,It can be cocked dry fired and stripped. There are similar guns in the book "The Last Enfield"but no mention of the serial numbers beginning US
