I've just finished scanning an Australian variant Small Arms Training, No. 7, Part II - Training. It reminded me that I had seen some photos from the AWM of a different type of ammunition liner that seems smaller in height, yet longer in length, than the 'standard' liner I have in my collection. On scanning the manual, I found that these are also the liners used for the Australian version of the photos (it's great that every commonwealth country reprinted the next almost exactly, yet used it's own troops for the photos!). This photos shows the Australian variant... compared with a 'British' one: Does anybody have any more information on these? I'd also dearly like a couple in my collection. I notice there is one on eBay at the moment but it is a pretty poor state and a couple of nice ones would look a lot better! Thanks, Richard

Hi, What about those ones? I never knew if they were for the Vickers or for the BESA. Both fit in the plywood boxes. Could you help me?

I have both of that type labelled up as Vickers items. The photos are on my website. They might well have been for the Besa as well though.

The box on the right/top is a "Boxes, tinned-plate Mk. I" and it was indeed also used for 225 round Besa belts.
I'd practically kill for a couple of beauts like that to take the 2 belts of innerts I have made up.
Sigh.....

PS Also know as liners, expendable
