Received this email the other day. Quite an interesting tale. Hi, Not sure if this will be of any interest, but my Brother recently has dome some genealogy research on our family & we discovered the following information: My Grandad, Staff Sergeant Horace William Hunt had been in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps during WW1 as a Mine Sweeper, unfortunately he was involved in an explosion which necessitated his return to Hendon Cottage Hospital, England for treatment for temporary blindness & chronic respiratory problems. During WW2 he again served, this time as a corporal in the Southgate Home Guard. He also worked as an engineer in a war factory at Standard Telephone & Cables in Southgate. In 1942, during his spare time, he invented an improved loading device for the drum magazine of the British 97 round Lewis Light Machine Gun which improved the loading efficiency significantly. The invention was donated to the war effort, and our family have now found a letter from a Major R. A. Moir, congratulating him on his ingenuity. If this of any use, please feel free to use it, & if you would like any more information please let me know. Regards David Attachments:
