For interest - herewith pics of a 1970s mount for the Browning and MAG from our 'Buffel' mine-protected APCs (for those with some Afrikaans - our beloved "Skommelkas" ). The base is purely for display purposes. Cheers

Thats nice Peter! I see the top cover is different from normal and assume it is the SA 7.62 conversion? I can also see a spring under the rear of the mount. Does this act as a levelling device or equilibrator?

Hi Rod
The top cover is from a 1919A6 (build project on Border Cities receiver) rather than ours. Could be Israeli but is not marked. I don't think we modded the 7.62 cover except for the pawls.
The very heavy spring takes some of the shock out of the recoil. The whole arrangement was pretty sloppy, turning the combo from a point weapon to a short range area weapon - usefull in the bush warfare context. There is a mech for adjusting height in the RH side. Will take pics idc.
BTW - have come across a Colt 1915 Belt Loader locally - with hopper but minus handle (no major problem there). PLEASE HOLD THUMBS for me !!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D. I may be able to help you soon with your hopper issue.
Cheers
