Hi As we are getting into the “shopping” seasons at shows etc I was wandering if anyone ever sees the Box, Spare Parts & Tools, Vickers. .303-in M.G Mk 2 and if so what is the going rate? Matt.

Hi Matt,
I've only ever come across full or partially full ones for sale recently. They go for around GBP£700. For just the box on its own, I would have thought it would have been worth between £100 and £150 depending on condition and age.

Well, I don't know if you were bidding on it, but one just went on eBay for £213 and it had all the fixtures and fittings missing. If somebody is intending to restore it, I'll happily let them have some photos of either type of the boxes I have.

Hi Guys. Yep I was looking at that on eBay as well! Glad to know it has gone to a good home Michielvr! Keep us all posted on how the restoration is going! I know a very good saddler who dose vehicle leather work as well if you need a new handle! How many different types of that box is there Richard? Do you have complete drawings for one? (I may be able to make one) Did you have any luck with the Dial Sight Box Michielvr? Matt.

I'm currently putting the dimensions of a spares box (of which there are three types for use solely with the Vickers - the Mk. II, Mk. II* and Mk. III). I will make these available as a .pdf but they will take some time to put together (work is getting in the way at the moment!).

Hi, I just bought a "Vickers Spare Box" off of eBay tonight Item number: 220570541028. I am not 100% sure it is a Vickers box, and if it is it may have been modified over time. Not really concerned as it was only about 30 pounds.
I would be most interested in dimensions, drawings or photos if available.
If anyone gets a chance to look at the item (completed listings), I would appreciate your opinion as you guys are the experts.
Regards, Al

Al,
Nice buy. I was watching it. It is the spares box for the Colt M1915 Vickers. They were produced commercially as well. They are the same size as the ammunition boxes.
I think I have some manuals on the Colt guns that would have details of contents in but I don't think they have details of the fittings. If you go to the website, I could email them over to you (unless there available to download - I can't remember!).
Regards
Richard

Hi Richard, Thanks for the confirmation, I also discovered a picture of it in Dolf's GOL on page 197.
I have sent you an email, as I can't find a copy on the Vickers manuel disk I purchased from you.
Thank you very much for the help.
Regards, Al

an update on my chest.: i sanded it down completly , but wasent able to save the original text , there was just to much off it that was coverd in a sort of black resin to save it. so i made a complete new stencil wich turned out OK for me. it's a little bit larger then the original but it works for me ;D then the whole box recived 3 layers of varnish. now i am going to start working on the interior fittings of the box, but i am currently awaiting mesurements some before and after pics :
