Has anyone else noticed a massive diffrence in dealers prices? Since puting a register of serials together I've noticed on a number of occasions, the same Bren being for sale by diffrent dealers. One example is a 1939 Mk1 which was for sale at Ryton Arms in December when I was up there. It Was £395 but with a discount £380. The same gun is now for sale a Target Arms www.target-arms.co.uk/product_info.php/pName/mk1-bren-rsaf-enfield-1939/cName/deactivatedAnd he is asking £675 I've no problem with dealers making a profit, they have to earn a living etc. but is a £295 profit, a little too much?

I believe more than a few dealers buy stuff from Ryton at a trade price, to which they then add a healthy mark-up and re-sell. You can see the disparity in prices advertised in publications like the Armourer magazine or Gun Mart.
£395 for a 1939 MkI is a good price. My 1940 'D' serial MkI came from Ryton 3-4 years ago and it cost me £385.

Just as a little follow-up to this, there was an Enfield MkI(m) Bren for sale at the Chelmsford militaria fair on Sunday. Overall condition was good and it had a correct MkI* barrel - but it had a Mk2 butt and a Canadian Mk2 bipod. The dealer wanted £325.
Rather overpriced in my opinion. What do other people think?

Id say a little over priced, Mk1 buts are for sale on another site for £80 with no metal parts! I have heard that the Greek shipment of 20,000 Brens is running out now so maybe this is why prices are going up.

I was thinking in terms of 'how much would it cost to return it to correct spec?'. But there's no doubt plenty of people out there who are less fussy about such things. After all, there's plenty of 'hybrid' Brens in period photographs.
I suppose they're not going to get any cheaper. Good job I bought my Brens when I did.

I am just trying to imagine what a pile of 20,000 Brens looks like
