Hi guys, I've got another request for you all, Could anyone with a Lithgow Bren brl on their guns pass me some details?
I'm looking for 1/ The date of manufacture, found in the format 12'34 2/ The serial number of the barrel (This is digits only, no letters and is usually on the top of the barrel in small numbers and is normally barred out by 2 lines) 3/ The original serial number the barrel was fitted too (Should be a A or B number, could also be barred out if reissued) 4/ Mark of Barrel 5/ If the serial has a 'S' suffix to indicate Spare.
Results so far, 10'41 1842 A915 Mk1
12'41 2264 A1128 Mk1
4'42 5121 A2480 Mk1
2'44 34538 A7669 (Must be a replacement barrel) Mk2
1'43 15833 B1276 Mk2
2'43 17369 B2957 Mk2
3'45 42187 B7241 Mk2
Hopefully somthing usefull may come out of this, then again maybe nothing will come out of it,
Cheers, Chris.

Thanks Rod, That puts the cat amongst the pigeons as 33959 and 34538 are dated 2'44, agh well, I've come to expect these odd ones out.
I picked up a Dovetail Enfield the other day which is a former NZ gun. NZA73
Cheers, Chris.

Hi Chris. What year is NZA73? My NZA14 is 1938 and it is believed that the first shipment which arrived here in 1939 was 20 guns.

Hi Rod. NZA73 is a 1940 gun. NZA58 survives too, its a 1940 gun also. Including your gun, I've only got 3 Enfield guns marked for the NZA, the rest are Inglis guns.

9'45 44401 B3506 MkII
Note: I'm unsure about the '01' in the above as the stamping is poor. However, the '444' is very clear.
