What was used to carry L4 Bren magazines for field use? Did your average squaddy hump tins of loaded mags, or was there a successor to the P.37 pouches which was used into the 1980s?

1958 Pattern equipment pouches were big enough for the 30 rounders, there were also disposable 4 mag pairs of pouches rather on the lines of the old 2nd world war utility pouches, a strap for around the neck and a tape for around the chest.

ATB Tom What was the gunner/loaders load-out? did the squad typically carry 2 pouches each for the gunner?

Typical load for a squaddie was 5 20-round mags for his L1A1 & 1 30-round mag for the Bren gunner. Not sure about the gunner & loader, but I would assume the gunner at least was carring 6 30-round mags, the loader probably a mix of Bren & Stirling or Bren & L1A1 mags. Very early on suplimental 4-mag 'disposable' pouches were also issued, but these disappeared from use very quickly, and I'm not aware of any dated later than 1960.
