I have just obtained two DVD's from NZ Archives which have a compilation of NZ WW2 newsreels and found a clip which shows a Bren mounted on a Dingo in the Western Desert, fitted with the 100 rd drum. This is the first picture I have ever seen of NZ use of the drums. Although we had them, no veteran I have spoken to remembers ever seeing or using them. I have not watched all the footage yet but have already seen some very interesting items such as; .50 M2HB's on Bren Carriers in Italy, many vehicles fitted with captured Bredas, RNZ Navy use of .303 Maxim for AA use, Navy use of .303 Hotchkiss for gunnery training with the scarce 'belts', NZ Sten manufacture, Home Guard TSMG training, etc. When I find a way to capture indivdual frames I will post some pictures.
