I've put some pictures of my 1940 DD Enfield onto my website if anyone is interested. 1940 DD Enfield...What do you think? Good, bad or indifferent?

Nice gun
I personally find a military arm some some honest use/wear more attractive than minty samples. I like the "been there, done that" look.

Timebandit, that is a very nice Bren ;D and it shows that the system was under some production pressure at that time even though the simplified machining of the Mk I(M) had not been introduced. All of the intricate milling has been done but the subsequent grinding and polishing operations (very obvious on the earlier guns) have been eliminated. Your gun must be very near the end of the true Mk I's. I also notice that your gun has the Enfield marks on the left side as opposed to the right side on the earlier guns. It is a nice gun to see!

Hi Mike,
E6477 is a late DD gun, the last I know of with the second dovetail is in the E9900 range. The rarest of the intermediates appear to be the second stage with a maximum of 1400 assembled (From the last 1st variant to the first, 3rd variant) althoguh the figure is more likely to bea lot less. The 3rd stage appears to have a mixture of guns with and with out the dimples in no paticular order.

Hi folks,
Thanks for your replies. I must admit I'm quite pleased with this gun, I don't really know that much about Brens but I think the bulk of this one is pretty much the correct spec for a generic MKI (ie MKI bipod, butt etc)?
Only thing I can't figure out is why it took me so long to buy one? I've a few deacts including a couple of MG34's but I never got around to buying a Bren for some reason and kept thinking one of these days...then gradually over the years the prices went up, and up, and up even more and still I never bothered until one day a couple of weeks back I decided on the spur of the moment to buy one and what an abortion it turned out to be so it was returned to the lying gits that sold it and I bought this one I have now from elsewhere and I'm pleased I did.
BP, how late in 1940 would it of been made? I was guessing sometime in the last quarter? Would that be somewhere near?
