Unknown Marking

I have just been going throught my spares boxes photographing different markings on Vickers components for a revamp of the 'Markings' page and I found a feedblock that I forgot I had which is marked VAN.

I remember getting this from Doug Preece and we weren't sure what it stood for. The options we had were:

• Vickers Armstrongs Nottingham
  
• Vickers Armstrongs N------------ (being a place name)
  
• Vickers Armstrong Nordenfelt
  

Does anybody have any idea? I have looked in Broad Arrow but can't find anything.

It has been suggested that this could be Vanden Plas Engineering but now I have blown the photo up, it seems to be initials so must be an abbreviation or something.

Vickers Armstrongs and then somewhere beginning with 'N'.

Hullo All, I will be seeing Dolf ( GOL ) at Knob Creek MG Shoot this coming weekend. I also have an early feed block with these markings . I had already packed it for the trip for him to take a look at. I'll gladly pass on any info. I get. saladin
