Bren Cover Question - Gun Doesn't Seem to Fit

I just picked up an original canvas Bren cover and I can't seem to get the gun to fit into it (unless I take the pistol grip off). Can anyone tell me or send me a picture of how the gun fits into the bag. Also, I am curious about why they have the three tab flap on the cover. It doesn't seem to have any real purpose. I assume the small flap with the snap is for having the carry handle stick out?

Someone posted pictures of this on another forum. I was surmised that it was an early Bren cover. (According to documentation that they had)

That's what I thought too. But if you go onto weaponsonline forum there is a thread there correcting David Gordon on this. (weaponsonline.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=lewis&action=display&thread=566)

I am still of the opinion that its a WW2 Lewis gun cover and most likely why it doesn't fit properly.

Hi Eric , the cover goes the other way up.
The small flap arrowed is to allow the covered gun to attach to a tripod mounting or a similar vehicle mounting.



The other buckles and straps allow the cover to be slipped off the front of the gun while allowing the gun to remain attached to the mounting.
