Hi I have purchased a CLINOMETERS, VICKERS .303-IN. M.G., Mk. 2, and would apprciate a picture or discription on how to fit/use on a Vickers gun Thanks Terry

Terry, the clinometer is adjusted to suit the angle you wish to have the gun at (the angle is taken from a set of range tables in booklet form) to deliver the bullets at the desired range. The clinometer is put on the cover above the feed block with the arrow facing forward, and the angle of the gun is adjusted by the elevation handwheel until the bubble is centered. The gun is then adjusted for line and firing commences. The clino is used for ranges in excess of the rear sight ability, and was largely replaced by the dial sight.

That's one way of fitting it Rod. The other way (and the one in several manuals) is to raise the rear cover and sit it on the side plates of the breech casing. This then isn't affected by the slopes on the side of some production feedblock covers.
