I have two items that may be of interest to some of our members which I have not seen or heard of before - both believed to be early WW2 North Africa bring-backs : 1) Parker-Hale made .22 sub-caliber training round - steel base, wood 'case' and brass nose. Headstamp 2Pdr/.22 4955 Parker-Hale and broad arrow. 2) Apparent armourer made .303 sub-caliber training round - based on a used 2Pdr case with brass nose. Headstamp mostly obscured by work on base. I'd be interested to hear of same or similar survivors. Can do pics if anyone is interested

You will find an illustration of the 2Pdr/.22 sub calibre device in the Parker Hale catalogue of 1940 or it may be a year or two after this. My copy is in storage unfortunately. I have been on the look out for one of these for years - nice find, particularly with the broad arrow!

Thanks for info Alan
I imagine they are fairly rare as the 2Pdr was declared obsolete early in WW2 and very few infantry guns seem to have survived, let alone accessories.

If they have not already been chopped there is meant to be a batch of the guns in the former Yugoslavia.
A dealer I spoke to would like to try to get them out but quite if this will ever happen is questionable.
