Armourers Gauge set

The set pictured below is another little treasure I got in the weekend in a wee box of assorted MG bits (Vickers spares, bulb flash hider, 2x Lewis bolts, etc). Thanks to Richard's excellent Vickers Gun website I have identified the missing parts from the set. It is clearly a lift-out tray and made by the armourer as part of his training. The ID stamping in the wood is a bit hard to read in places but I know which pieces to look for now!


Also in the box was this 'BD 2507 Plugs, Test, Adapter, Condenser' for use with the Vickers for testing wear in the hose fitting.

What a lovely little set. I often wonder where the lists are for which armourers had which bits as you often see sets with completely different things in.
