Actually, I was hoping one of you could help me. My father in law posed with the new Vickers machine gun for some British magazine when he was in the British army in 1940 or so. The details are vague as dad died last december. He was a private in the Princess Louise Guards from 1939 - 45 (I think demobbed in 45). We'd love to see that picture of dad. His name was: Sidney Earnest Crawley. We've looked all over the net for a picture of him in the magazine with the Vickers; sadly, no avail. If anybody can help, we'd really appreciate it. Thanks: Andrew

Andrew, I've moved your post here so hopefully it will attract some more attention. I would guess that your Dad was in the (Princess Louise's Own) Kensington Regiment. Looking for a single photo will be difficult but not impossible. There's a bit more info on that Regiment on my website at www.vickersmachinegun.org.ukI have the Regimental history and I will see if there is any mention of him in there for you. Regards Richard

When you say 'NEW' maybe it refers to somthing other than the Vickers gun we know, perhaps it was the Vickers Berthier?
