I went down to my local RSL to have a beer and started looking in the glass display cases filled with old weapons and ammo. I noticed an old bayonet in the case and it was labeled WW2 bayonet. I thought it looked very similar to a bayonet I had been given from my grand father, so I did some looking around. Starting to think it's not the same one as the one down at the RSL Just wanting to know if anyone could identify please. Attachments:

This is a standard Aussie made bayonet and scabbard for the L1A1 SLR. It is definitely not WW2 as the SLR only came into service in 1959. Vietnam was the only war of consequence that Aussie used the SLR in.

Just to add to Woodsy's remarks, the Australian L1A2 Bayonet is the first version produced around 1959/1960 at Lithgow
