As you can see its a Post 95 deac in very good condition indeed. Serial Number is AD 6217980 Making it a 1962 lithgow. It was part of an order that went to NZ then ended up back here in the UK. As you can also see even though it is a post 95 deac you can still break the upper/lower receivers and remove the top cover. The lower receiver is the one with the Auto function. All serial numbers match including the bolt and body ext. It comes with the original Deac Cert, Sling and a basic cleaning kit and a dummy 7.62x51 round. Im looking for £450 ono feel free to make me an offer please add £20 for postage or Collect in person from Salisbury/Andover area. I can email more pics if required. Thanks for looking

Your rifle must have been refurbished in the UK before deactivation. NZ L1A1's did have the Maranyl furniture fitted although it was frequently 'mix and match' as parts were only replaced when they were damaged, but the NZ rifles did not have carry handles. These were all removed in the late '60's and a black rubber washer was used to fill the slot. It was found that using the carry handle did not keep the rifle in the required state of readiness when the men were tired after long patrols in Vietnam. Slings were often removed for the same reason, and also to prevent catching on the undergrowth.

Woodsy thanks for the update. It did indeed have a wooden butt that came with it when I got it so that could be the original one. I didn't know about the carrying handle though.
