Hi All,
I am new to this forum and, indeed, a bit of a novice when it comes to deactivated weapons. My main interest is in the Medium A Whippet Tank which you will no doubt be aware was armed with the hotchkiss machine gun. I am also a keen collector of militaria and a member of the Friends of the Lincoln Tank Group. As such I regularly display my collectables and am looking to enhance my collection by acquiring a replica hotchkiss of the sort found in the Whippet. So my first question is does anyone know if there is anywhere that produces replicas as a search of the internet has been fruitless. If none are available to purchase, what are the legalities of making your own replica. I have seen plenty of 1:1 plans for sale but I am a bit shy of the legal position of doing this here in the UK. All help and guidance gratefully received.
Thanks

Hi Andrew Thanks for the post. Sadly I am not a member of facebook so I seem unable to access your link. I was thinking of something more along the lines of that shown on the site www.ima-usa.com site but they will not ship to the UK. However is there anyway I can access a site that will give pictures of the wooden replica? Tanks3

Just a thought, a replica is going to cost a few bob for a decent version so have you thought about buying a Deactivated Turkish contract Hotchkiss from World Wide Arms for £295? You could change some parts for replica/repro parts to make it more like a Portative tank gun. Also you could contact Rod Woods as he has a Portative and he also makes replica guns.

I will be producing metal (with wooden stock) 'cock and click' Hotchkiss Mk I LMG's towards the end of next year (Lewis guns first!). I have now retired from gunsmithing after 43 years and will be able to concentrate solely on the replicas. PM me for more details.

Hi Britplumber
I had a quick look on World Wide Arms website but couldn't see any hotchkiss for sale? Also, as you can see, I think Ron Woods has posted so have sent him a PM
