I was wondering is the Bren drum and the Vickers drum one in the same? interchangable?

Thanks, I was wondering from external appearance they look very much alike, I thought maybe the drums were Vickers and an adaptation to the Bren.....

The Vickers K drum predated the Bren drum and they are not interchangeable, however there is no doubt that the Bren drun is a derivative of the K drum. The differences between the two are only in the mounting and feed system. The main body and rotor are virtually identical. It would be interesting to know of the development details. Perhaps Peter Laidler's upcoming book has that information?
