Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.
With the recent death of my brother, I have several machine guns to sell. The biggest mystery as far as pricing is his 1918 Vickers. It's a complete gun that runs and fires fine (it hasn't been shot in over 15 years). I would call the gun pristine- he took a lot of pride in making them pretty.
The tripod is supposedly the "best" one (brass?). It has the tank and hoses. It has been re-barreled to .308, but I have the .303 barrel also.
I know without seeing the gun I'm probably asking for too much, but I can't find ANY pricing structure on a Vickers. Again, any help would be appreciated.

Hi, May I assume you are in the USA? If your brothers guns are full auto, you may want to contact Bob Naess at www.blackrivermilitaria.com as transferring full auto guns requires special handling and that is the market he deals in. If it is semi-auto then it is a completely different story. You are not providing enough information to tell much about the gun but I would imagine a full auto gun in the US and properly papered is worth from $15K - $35K. A good semi goes for $5K - $10K depending on model and accessories and they do not come up for sale often. This is just ball park and I am just a collector and do not deal in them. Tripods are all usually brass with and steel legs.

Sorry to hear of your brothers demise, my condolences. Can you post pictures of the Vickers in question? As redroth says there is quite a difference between a semi and a full auto. You need to have the gun in your name in order to sell it, otherwise it is a lot of extra paperwork to transfer it. If it is a semi, almost anyone can own it and no paperwork is required. I would suggest checking online auctions for prices that Vickers have sold for. www.sturmgewehr.com is a good place to start or even www.gunbroker.com. If it is a full auto you would be wise to contact a broker to help you sell and transfer it, Bob is experienced with this and I am sure there are others even closer to you in location that can help. Best of luck, it should be an easy sale. CaptMax

I'll post the one pic I have soon- I'm working this weekend.
My brother was a Class III man, and the gun is full auto as was all his machine guns. The Thompson and HK 51 he had are easy to research- the Vickers and Russian AVT have been tough.
The guns are safely locked away with local law enforcement as I understand the laws here in Missouri. I decided not to pursue the Class III deal- as much as I like these guns, there is just too much at stake here for me to mess with keeping them. It's a shame too.
The man who handled most of his purchases is here in the state, and I may go to him for the sales- I was just trying to get an idea. Thanks again.
