There was a question posted in the Maxim MG forum and I thought I would post the answers here as well for all the inquiring minds ;D
The question is:
"What are you guys using in your MG08's for barrel packing material? Where do you get it?"
Well......
"I use graphite impregnated stem packing for faucets. Works OK for me and it's easy to find at most any hardware store."
"Valve packing cord, the three strand graphite cotton string variety is excellent, packs to a uniform surface, is cheap and not a contaminant. Each strand is correct in OD to wind into the groove and can be cut to length. There are any number of string materials that can be used, but the valve packing for industrial use is really good."

V.S Packing Cat. # 930 1/8" 1 lb roll.
Made by: Lavelle Ind. Inc, 424 N. Wood ST, chicago, IL 60622
It is three strand graphited cotton, and each strand is perfect to
pack any WC barrel groove. Cut to length and use in rear and front.
Waterproof grease can be used along with it, or other lubes."
