Normally, were Vickers MGs manufactured during WWII issued with AA features like the flag-like, rear sight and base for spider AA sight on water jacket? Or are these post war modifications for specific users like the Turkish Army? Does somebody have pictures of these Vickers in AA configuration? TIA

The .303 Vickers was made in three basic configurations, namely the Mark I ground gun, the aircooled aircraft gun which went through a variety of marks, and the AFV gun which had a pistol grip attached and also went through a variety of marks, All of the pictures I have seen of Vickers being used in an AA role are Mark I guns with various add-on sights and mounts. Lithgow records show that 270 Mark I guns made in 1943 are shown as AA models but no specific details are known.

Thanks, Woodsy, very interesting. Do you have any pictures of these Lithgow Mk I guns manufactured in 1943 shown in their AA configuration? Any idea where these AA guns were issued and to which service?
