well, I had my hotchkiss guns out last weekend to shoot. The 1914 French on the US tripod ( 8mm Lebel ) ran ok but there is a problem in the sear// trigger not catching the bolt - the gun runs on. I have not taken it apart to see what the problem is, but will update when I find it. I had never had this gun out before . The British Hotchkiss Portative in 303 ran great. I used 303 strips, but also tried the Brass Japanese and Steel French strips. All worked fine in the gun.

Somewhere I have the factory drawings for the strips for the portative, scans of the half plate negatives from the Pattern Room library that was. If they are of interest I'll look where I've filed them and can send them down the wire.
Excellent to hear of a portative in running condition.
