Is this a Vickers Light tank MkVB Vickers MG cooling system (expansion tin for when water is hot ??)
Looks to be very old with rivets....................
I Have tried General discussion board - No replies
Please HELP as I do NOT know what this tin is, Faint WB or VB paint remnants on undamaged side.
SIZE 19 x 14 x 4.2cm ( approximately 7 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 1 5/8" )
Broken leather strap at one end and threaded hole at the other. Looks like when fitted, a pipe feeds into this tin and then when full can be turned upside down and held with leather strap (now broken) until water feeds back into main water tin !
? Definately shrapnel damage, something hit hard pulling in one riveted end and one side of the tin as well as breaking an L shape INTO the tin.
Could have stopped shrapnel from entering the Vickers Tank
What was it used for ?? Like I mentioned maybe an expansion tank for a water cooling system for a Vickers VB Light tank Mk.VB hence the faint paint remnants VB on the tin ?
OR WB which could stand for WASSERBEHÄLTER ??
