I'm a new member here on WOL and have truly enjoyed looking at all the photos, plans and procedures in constructing the replica Browning MG. I made this one a couple of years ago and couldn't find dimensions for a lot of the parts. I didn't use any original parts, so everything is homemade. The side plates are 1/4" metal. I've had some experience with auto-body repair and it helped with the metal work. I don't have a machine shop, so most of the construction was done with a drill, 4-1/2" metal cutting disc, mig welder and a Dremel. I'm almost ashamed to post mine, after seeing all the great replicas posted on this site. Comments good and bad welcome ! Henry

That is an excellent effort, especially considering you only have hand tools! I have a full machine shop and I also use aluminium castings which only require fairly minimal machining to finish them. Mind you, I did spend a lot of time doing the drawings and making the patterns for casting, factoring in shrinkage allowance, etc. I am lucky to own original guns to take dimensions from.

Thanks woodsy, This site has really motivated me to build a better one. I've downloaded every plan I could find and numerous photos. I would like to get a plasma cutter and a tig welder, but my wife wants a new clothes washer first !
