I have a Vickers, .303 and I had it out to the range after a number of years in storage. The weapon functions (ie. inserts a cartridge from the belt, feeds and extracts, manually) but their is no indentation in the primer of the cartridge. In other words, the weapon fails to fire. I have examined the firing pin and it looks OK Can someone help me with a suggestion or two?

You have three possible problems. The most likely is that there is some accumulated crap around the barrel which is preventing the whole assembly from going fully into battery. You would need to fully strip and clean the gun, paying particular attention to the rear face of the trunnion block and the mating surface on the rear of the barrel. The other possibilities are that you have a broken firing pin spring, or if the gun goes click instead of bang, then you have a broken firing pin.
