Hey, nice forum. Much better than the other one. I need to know the headspace for a Bren MK1? Does anyone sell a headspace gauge or repro of one?
TIA

This message was left by Rod Woods for you regarding the post on the old forum -
Brens are heaspaced using standard .303 rifle gauges. The GO is .064" and the NO GO is .074". Brownells (www.brownells.com) can supply them from their online store. To check the headspace the gun must be field stripped and with the barrel locked in place, the appropriate gauge is slipped under the extractor and the bolt tried in place by hand. If the heaspace is correct the bolt will fit into the locking recess on the GO and not fit on the NO GO. NEVER put a gauge in the barrel and allow the bolt to slam home. You will ruin the gauge, and possibly have a very jammed gun. If the headspace is incorrect then you need a selection of bolts and barrel nuts to get it right.
