Ive told you before about that !

Good answer tho , look at the modern equivilents on the L4 ,and SA80 , not coned and drilled , but slotted along the length, and they are termed flash eliminators.
( not that the flash is truly eliminated of course )

I would say that my question on the drilled holes in the flash hider assembly has been answered - thanks to everyone who took an interest in this.
