Hi All dug out the March 1938 LoC B 1526 which refers to the issue of Mk II cleaning rods for Bren.
B 1526 RODS, CLEANING, .303-IN. M.G., MK.II "B"
Without bush. For use with Bren .303-in M.G..
1. Alternative method of issue.
RODS, CLEANING, .303-IN. M.G., MK.II "A"
With steel bush. For use with VIckers or Lewis .303-in M.Gs
2. Nomenclature
1. Approval has been given for the issue of the Mk.II .303-in cleaning rod (- A 3312) without the steel bush for use with Bren .303-in M.Gs. 2. Consequent upon 1, the nomenclature of the Mk.II rod issued with bush is hereby amended to read as shown.
....So for a Bren chest or saddle box remove those bushes!
Still looking for a minty Mk V rod to redback by the way if anyone has one spare to sell...

Cheers Tom
As its one of the things that's bloody confusing , 44 and 45 Mk3 Bren parts ID lists shows a Mk2B rod - BD 2553 (with bush) and the 47 Bren MkI&2 ID list shows rod (without bush) also as Mk2B - BD 2553.
Also shows as Mk2B - BE 2553 (without bush) in the Aussie 45 Bren MkI&2 ID list as an alternative to the Aussie Mk2B rod - CAA 3405

Yup, I'm thinking that the artists/ compilers of IPLs, just cut and pasted what ever pics they had to hand half the time!
Theres a Bren IPL , one of the MK 3 ones I think, and theres a Mk II cylinder rod that looks to be 3 foot long or out of scale and incredibly thin!
