Hi all,
I was a member of the old forum and have been meaning to join up the new one for ages and finally got off my butt and did it.
I am another frustrated collector in Australia. Have been collecting for years and the last few have been devoted to trying to find a deact Bren without breaking the bank, without much success I might add. Tom and Gyles know my story they have been a big help with many small pieces for me. I have managed to piece together almost everything except the upper and lower reciever's ( only minor parts, not ) but I haven't given up yet.
Just as a comparison for you guys in the U.k. and the U.S.A. the last deact I found for sale here ( which in finding them is a serious undertaking in it'self ) was priced at $8,000 local. No I'm not having a lend either. It was a sectioned example in nice condition. Cheapest one before that was about $5,000. So if you want one you either have to be rich or stupid or find one burried in the back yard if your lucky. Just ask Daryl, 25th April, he knows the score.
Anyway this is a great place for info on the Bren e.t.c. so I'll be around from now on.
If anyone local in Oz wants to talk brens drop us a line. Also I've got a number of small items I am willing to trade if anyone's interested to both locals and overseas collectors. Such as empty spare barrel holdalls, small spares tins, empty spares wallets, oil bottles and the odd small Bren bit.
